Brandon and Jessica were married on October 23rd, 2010. The running joke is that a week after they were married, they decided to start trying to have kids. In April they found out that they were finally pregnant with their first little one.
The ensuing weeks were filled with excitement and joy...and sickness. Jessica was in the hospital for dehydration once and also had to go to her work to get an IV a week or so after for the same reasons. She lived off of yogurt and fresh fruit, and every now and then Panda Express and Top Ramen.
Although days blurred into weeks, and weeks to months, Brandon and Jessica's marriage continued to grow stronger and stronger. Running to the bathroom, and having the Chihuahua (named Mia) bark at Jessica, Brandon would follow her quickly, pull back her hair, sit with her and rub her back, helping her through yet another episode.
Brandon and Jessica went to have an ultrasound at 13 weeks because of some abdominal pains. Luckily it was just ligament pain, but they found out that their little one was growing rapidly, so her gestation was pushed up to 15 weeks. They were so excited but nervous, they thought they had two extra weeks. When the Ultrasound Tech. asked if they wanted to know the sex of the baby, Brandon and Jessica were surprised, they had thought about not finding out until the birth of their sweet one, but immediately wanted to know. They found out that day they were having a beautiful little boy, growing so fast, such a little miracle.
They thought about names, the first two they liked was Grayson Richard or Hudson Richard. Soon it was a stalemate... they couldn't decide between the two. They loved them so much, so decided they would look later for different names, but just see when they had him.
Soon Jessica was getting bigger, and getting less sick. It was just a manifestation of who was growing inside of her. When Jessica was 20 weeks, she went in for her routine ultrasound to see how little Jr. was doing. Everything looked great, he was still growing, no problems with him. Except for one thing, signs showed that Jessica had the beginnings of an incompetent cervix, if this wasn't fixed soon, they could have Jr. very early. They were both scared, but knew everything would turn out right no matter what.
Two weeks later Jessica had her Doctors appointment to see if little one and herself were doing okay. Like the ultrasound told, he was doing well. But she was told her cervix was dilated to 1cm and 50% effaced (thin). She needed to be seen by a Perinatologist that next week to decide if she needed bed rest or if she would need medical procedures done to keep little one inside for as long as possible.
